I have known Donn Garrett for about 6
years and have recorded a number of
songs with him. I have been in music for
40+ years and have played with
hundreds of drummers and I must say
that Donn is the best drummer that I
have ever played with. The most
important aspect of any drummer that I
look for is meter… the basics… if the
meter is not solid the music suffers
intensely. His meter is spot on and I
know that I can throw any request at
Donn, any weird beat or fill and he will
pull it out of somewhere and it always
comes out as I request. In short, he is a
star on the rise.

I was recently asked about Donn Garrett and have
to say he is one of the most versatile & talented
drummers I've had the pleasure of knowing. Not
only an outstanding drummer with a sense of style
uniquely his own, but a well rounded musician who
also plays guitar and can sing lead vocals and or
backup. He's a musician who always brings his "A"
game and a drummer that any band would be
fortunate to have as their pulsing back beat. As a
long time R&B drummer myself, I've known and met
many drummers who play for the sake of having the
spotlight shine solely on them versus the band as a
whole....not Donn Garrett. Bringing energy,
passion, input and chops to the mix, Donn Garrett
has to be considered a true drummer's drummer.
